I have been playing with this for a while and find that I can produce very intelligible speech, even good enough for use on the phone. The pronunciation editor is a great way to create hot keys for common words. I have only a couple of complaints. Since I am using this from the keyboard and don't want to switch to the mouse all the time, shortcut keys for common mouse functions such as jumping to the editor, clearing text, starting and stopping play, etc. Would be very useful.
